专家简介

Prof. Yuming Zhao was born in Dalian, China in 1971. He received his bachelor and master’s degree in fine chemical technology from Dalian University of Technology. In January 1998, he joined Prof. Rik R. Tykwinski’s group at the Department of Chemistry, University of Alberta (Edmonton, Canada) as a PhD candidate specializing in organic chemistry. His PhD work was focused on cross-conjugated eneyne oligomers/polymers. After graduation with a PhD degree in 2002, he was awarded a prestigious NSERC postdoctoral fellowship and then moved to Rice University (Houston, Texas) as a postdoctoral researcher, working with Prof. James M. Tour on the study of fullerene chemistry and nanomachinery. In 2004 he joined the Department of Chemistry, Memorial University of Newfoundland (St. John’s, Canada) as a tenure-track assistant professor. He was promoted to the rank of associate professor in the year of 2009 and has been a tenured full professor since 2014. Prof. Yuming Zhao has published more than 80 research papers and contributed to a number of book chapters. His research interest covers the areas of fundamental physical organic chemistry, organic p-conjugated polymers, carbon nanomaterials, functional molecular devices, and environmental science.
